Simsbury Farms Hall of Fame

Background

The Simsbury Farms Mens Club ( the “Club”) is a chartered fraternal organization with the intention of creating an acceptable experience for its members. The Club achieves this by working with the Town of Simsbury and the Simsbury Farms Pro Shop to ensure access, represent the members in discussion with the town on course conditions and course related issues and by scheduling a variety of competitions.

The SFMC Board of Directors created the Hall of Fame to recognize outstanding accomplishments within the SFMC by individual members over a prolonged period in areas of Competitive Excellence or as an individual Contributor.

The Club hall of fame seeks to recognize members for outstanding participation in the club. There are two primary avenues for inclusion into the hall of fame

Competitive excellence

We recognize individuals who meet the following minimum criteria

  • SFMC Member for a minimum of 10 years. Exceptions can be made for premature death or other unusual circumstances
  • Winner of at least 4 major Championships (gross ) during their time as a member
    • Club Championship
    • Senior Club Championship
    • Simsbury Open
    • Memorial Day Open (Previously Simsbury Bank Open and other names)
    • Points Championship Finale
    • Match Play A Flight
  • Continued, sustained play over the honoree’s membership time frame in other club events.

The criteria is not automatic. A nomination needs to be proffered and the Club board of Directors must vote for admission. Non Competitive behavior, competitive issues and club participation will be considered as factors for admission.

Contributor

Various subjective criteria can be used for this category. Some of those criteria

  • SFMC Member for a minimum of 10 years. Exceptions can be made for premature death or other unusual circumstances
  • Service to the club as a Board Officer, Board Member or as a committee volunteer.
  • Volunteer activities sponsored by the club
  • Leadership on activities related to the town, the course or related golf governing bodies (CSGA, USGA )
  • Recognition by organizations outside club direction.
  • Non club members that have provided exceptional service to the club.

In rare cases a combination of competitive excellence and contributor may be combined into a nomination.

All nominations are subject to Board approval. The Board at its sole discretion will decide on the manner and timing of any award.

Nomination Process

Any active club member may nominate a member to the Hall of Fame. A written rationale for the submission must accompany the nomination. The nomination should reference the criteria elements that justify inclusion. All nominations should be submitted to the Board in writing. The board may accept, reject, return for additional information or hold the nomination. Acceptance into the hall requires five affirmative votes from the Board. The board will decide on entry and presentation details.

An honoree may be honored even if they are no longer an active member.

The Board of Directors, at its sole discretion, will determine the timing of awards.
